Truth: The Burden Of Awareness

Like most people say “once you see it, you can't unsee it”.

Introduction:

Welcome my friend,

When we say that someone is telling the truth, it means that the details about their narration are factual; or so we've accepted it to be.

Yet this is just one way to describe truth.

I recently heard someone explain truth to mean “God's viewpoint on a situation” in other words “God's perspective on ‘the matter’” which sounds insightful if you're a believer, and of course uninteresting “if you're not into all that ‘God stuff’”.

Yet why aren't you?

Why do you reject this awesomely overwhelming love reaching out to you right where you are, just the way you are, without ridicule, shaming or judgement?

Yet offering salvation and a renewed hope.

This is the truth that sets us free.

Which means that while we may feel small, unqualified, ugly or anything of sort, the truth is that we're enough; which of course is God's view of us.

So it's good to be back here with you my friend, how are you really?

Discussion:

If we're wise, knowing God's perspective is going to be important to us because it's the order for which everything will come to pass.

Yet he allows us to make our own “good choices” as we always want to, walking away from his perfect choice.

How many times have we seen parents openly accept they stood in the way of their child's early days in a craft because they had felt they would fail at it?

Yet that was the parents' viewpoint, not the truth.

Knowing the truth allows us to align our actions and decisions with it rather than turn our backs to it and eventually bear the consequences in due time.

Identifying Certain Truths

For me to know your opinion on something, I'd have to ask you, else, it's just assumptions.

To know God's perspective requires us to ask him through prayer and this is only possible when we go to him not just to complain, vent or direct him on how we want things done but to listen to him also.

God isn't a spirit or concept that keeps us going and motivated for some, or frightened for others, he is real and each of us can experience him in our daily lives.

This is the truth.

There are many assumptions we have of God many of which he isn't, and we wouldn't find them out until we become open to establishing an intimate relationship with him.

Thankfully, we don't have to initiate it or perform for it, we just have to be willing.

This is another truth.

God is always talking to us but we're unable to identify his voice because;

▪︎ We're Not Listening

God, although has what it takes to bend us to his will, still allows us to choose, so that we are with him out of our own freewill.

True love isn't forced or coerced so he gives us the choice to respond to his unconditional love how we choose to and when we choose to, hoping that we do so accordingly and timely.

Some of us have this feeling that believing God is what weak people do, so we rather bear all the responsibility of our lives by ourselves.

This is untrue; and when we have this mindset we oppose truth because we've deliberately disconnected ourselves from it, by our rejection of it.

▪︎ We Don't Think He Would Talk To Us

When conversations like this come up, it's easy to think “maybe that's how he works in y'all lives not mine” but that's how he works in everyone's life; so we're no exception.

God talks to each one of us and we feel it everytime we're troubled by our choices, finding no ease whatsoever.

We must understand that God is interested in every decision we make because they all add up to the bigger picture of our life's puzzle, which is fulfilling the purpose for which we're here.

When we seek his perspective through prayer, we end up with the choice that brings us peace of mind.

▪︎ It's Not The Most Popular Choice

The right thing to do and what everyone does are usually not the same, which is why it takes courage to follow the truth.

Obeying God will often require us to take the road less traveled which is why we're going to reject what he says even when we can hear him.

The truth is that on the path of obedience, God strengthens us for everything he's called us for, so it's safe to lay our doubts aside.

When we follow his lead, he uses us to show off what he can do with ordinary men.

▪︎ It's Not What We Expected

If we don't understand the nature of God, it'll be easy for others to lead us astray.

When God's perspective allows us to pass through difficult circumstances it's not to break us but to remold us beautifully.

Even in our trials we can find joy in knowing that it's all his way of preparing us for what is to come so that we can spend each day hopeful for better rather than anxious for fear of worse.

Everything God allows in our lives whether good or bad is motivated by love and if we react well to them we'd discover this to be true.

Impact Of His Truth On Us

The truth of God's love sets us free.

One day, God will no longer be to us something we read about or hear the preachers speak on, but someone we have a personal relationship with.

This is what he wants for all of us.

That way we're able to express our own love back to him having become aware of;

▪︎ Our Worthiness

The truth of God's love enables us so that we can do everything we set our minds on.

This is the confidence that keeps us going.

We're enough just the way we are and the only thing separating us from our dreams is going out there to make it happen, having now committed it in his hands.

▪︎ Our Unworthiness

There's humility in knowing that we're not special and that everything we are or can be has come from God.

Those who use their accomplishments to disregard and mistreat others miss out on the chance to use it to inspire so they end up intimidating; this is wrong.

When God makes us custodians of more, we're to share it with those around us in a way that they feel the same love God has shown to us in giving us these things.

▪︎ His Discipline

The truth of God's love shapes our character as we begin to feel more comfortable being like him.

As we grow in our walk with him we begin to understand how his commandments are there to protect us from the eventual consequences of our pleasures rather than deny us of the fun in doing them.

Walking in his truth is a continuous process of sanctification into excellence as we begin to show self control in our lifestyle and conduct.

This is what our healing and rebirth are about which makes them lifelong processes rather than a sudden transformation into perfection.

▪︎ Our Responsibility To Share This Truth

Once we feel the truth of God's love we're called to share it with everyone else.

The purpose of our salvation is to serve as vessels through which the message of his redemption is passed on to others.

In our interactions with others, there should be something about us that inspires them to act right by us and other people.

Summary:

The burden of our awareness lies in the responsibility of living out this truth in a world of  deceit and the courage to share it with those who are readily willing to mock us for it.

In a world of political correctness and cancel culture we may find ourselves in situations where we'll be asked to suppress truth in order to protect the feelings of others.

This is a big challenge, which is why only God can enable us to face it.

Today again, like in our last discussion we've been reminded that as believers we'll always be held accountable to the truths that we've been exposed to so once we hear it we can no longer say that “it doesn't matter”.
