Rebirth: He's Not Mine

When a child is born, there's both fear and excitement for what they might yet become.

Introduction:

Welcome my friend,

Today I'd like to ask your permission to use more “I's” than I normally would in the course of this discussion.

Also, consider this a kind request from the birthday boy.

Truly, it's such an honour to share this day with you knowing that in doing so I have this awesome privilege of living out the purpose for which I was born on the anniversary of the day I was born.

When I write these words I have this conviction that this is the reason I'm here, knowing that humanly with all my flaws, I'm not even nearly half as good as these words yet God the Master has made me a custodian of them.

So that in sharing them, I may begin to learn the responsibility of holding myself accountable by the standards they uphold, in order not to become a hypocrite writing one thing and doing something else.

This therefore, makes me much of a reader as I am the writer, much of the learner as I am the teacher.

So that together, you and I, my friend who has also read, become responsible for being good stewards of the truth which we now know.

This is a huge responsibility but one he enables us to carry out, because he's not asking us to be perfect but to be willing.

We're not infallible and would never be, but we're willing servants of the ultimate Master, God; committed to do great things through him and for His Glory.

This is the whole purpose of our existence.

Welcome again dear friend.

Indeed, there's no one else I'd rather share this special day with.

Thanks for showing up as your reliability suggests you would.

I don't take it lightly.

Discussion:

The day we're born is our birthday but the day we realize the reason why we were born is the day that we're reborn.

While our birth is a natural occurrence we had no hand in, neither choosing our parents nor place of our birth, being reborn is a personal decision and encounter we experience when we begin to want more out of life.

In other words our rebirth is a choice, a deliberate decision to make the most out of life.

Overcoming A Difficult Birth Circumstance

It's not every one of us that had the privilege of being born into a home with expectant and ready parents.

In that case it becomes a challenge asking other “children” to raise a child they were barely prepared for.

This is the reason some of us never felt loved or wanted having been born by those too overwhelmed to make us feel accepted.

Worse still, some others were totally absent.

When we look at this, it's enough reason to be bitter and angry having been rejected first hand by those we yearned for their warmth.

Yet sadly, as this goes on it's not them who suffer but us, which is why we may have to let go as a show of self love.

Unforgiveness keeps us living with built up rage that we evenly dish out to people.

From those we work with to friends, and the other people we encounter daily.

This anger shows up in our conduct and conversations until it eventually ruins whatever relationship we have or could have had with them and whatever opportunities that may have come with it.

This is self sabotage and self harm because we all need genuine friendships and such behaviour hinders it.

The Essence Of Our Rebirth

The reason for our rebirth is to rise above the circumstances surrounding our birth to go on to become everything that God has created us to be.

When a child is born there's both fear and excitement for what they might yet become because no one knows the choices they'd go on to make and how that would shape their lives.

However, our rebirth is a decision to go back to our creator and to inquire of him what he wants us to do with the life that he's given us.

The life of our purpose.

When we do this we demonstrate humility having given up our ego and the need to “do it yourself” to follow His lead.

This removes all the uncertainty about our future since we've made the choice to let Him take over as the Master of our lives as we play the role of good servants, using the talents and abilities he's blessed us with to serve others.

The Demands Of Our Rebirth

To be reborn requires us to give up control of our lives as we let God take over our affairs.

This can be a huge ask.

As humans we want to call the shots in our lives, having the full right to respond to our pleasures and emotions the way we want to yet God is saying “calm down”.

To be reborn is to live our lives solely and wholly for God having lived enough for ourselves.

In this we acknowledge that this life is “He's not mine” and that we owe it to Him to use it just the way that pleases Him.

Summary:

If this is your first time of joining this conversation my friend, this entire discuss might feel like a vague summary.

However, you dear friend would see this as more emphasis on everything we've mostly talked about throughout our interactions here.

Whichever category you fall under, I hope that there's at least a line or thought we've shared that has spoken to you.

If that is, then that's enough.

After all, it's why I'm here to spend my special day with you.

Master Apprentice.
