Master Apprentice: Following His Lead

On the brand's First Anniversary, we take a closer look at what it's about with more clarity and purpose than when it first began.

Introduction:

Hello my friend!

It's always with a sense of gratitude that we share these moments together.

More so today, because exactly a year ago a first step was made, which led to several others, some of which have brought us together.

What happened on the day is that Two (2) weeks of continually requesting to make payment in cryptocurrency against the desires of the biller, had come to an end and all was now set for building this brand.

The Master Apprentice had started to write.

Discussion:

In preparing for this journey I had just finished reading The Alchemist yet again but this time with more lessons and inspiration drawn. One of those lessons is that there are four (4) obstacles on our path every time we decide to go after our dreams, they are:

▪︎ Upbringing

As children we were always taught how difficult life is and how going after our dreams is a difficult or even impossible task.

Even for those who didn't believe this initially, the shame and guilt we felt from our first attempts at success reinforced the lie in our head that we're incapable of accomplishing our deepest desires.

A clear lack of understanding that failure is how we learn how to succeed because it's in practicing that we improve.

In this we allow ourselves to be held back by the wrong self image of ourselves formed from the opinions of others; many of who judge us wrongly by simply projecting their own fears and limitations on us.

▪︎ Love

One can be separated from living his dreams by the fear of leaving loved ones behind and abandoning all the habits and lifestyle that formed the basis of the bonds we shared with them.

Here, because we're unwilling to accept these losses as part of growth, we hold on to the comfort of being around them even when solitude is the right response to commence our healing, self awareness, and ultimately self actualisation.

▪︎ Fear of Failure

Ironically the fear of failure ensures that we fail from not trying. Many times we know what we want to do but because of self doubt we don't give it a shot or give it a half-hearted shot such that the failure becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

What we don't understand is that we all have what it takes to succeed at anything we set our minds on, as long as we want it enough to never give up until we have it.

▪︎ Fear of Achieving our Dream

The human need for adventure, hope and optimism means that sometimes we'd rather dream than achieve the dream for fear of having nothing else to look forward to.

Now quoting the book itself;

"The mere possibility of getting what we want fills the soul of the ordinary person with guilt. We look around at all those who have failed to get what they want and feel that we do not deserve to get what we want either.

We forget about all the obstacles we overcame, all the suffering we endured, all the things we had to give up in order to get this far.

I have known a lot of people who, when their personal calling was within their grasp, went on to commit a series of stupid mistakes and never reached their goal—when it was only a step away.

This is the most dangerous of the obstacles because it has a kind of saintly aura about it: renouncing joy and conquest."

Facing Our Fears

Identifying and accepting the existence of these fears set the tone for overcoming them. When we move from denial to living with awareness, we're able to face our circumstances in good faith knowing that they're indeed indications that we're on the right path.

This is also an acknowledgement of our limitations and by doing so, we let go of our desire to control everything; trusting God to show his strength in our weaknesses.

Overcoming our fear is therefore the simple exercise of replacing fear with faith.

Going Against the Norm

The vision God places in our heart may not always be the most popular thing to do but it doesn't make it less significant.

Many times obstacles show up in the form of opinions of family, friends and loved ones whose words really matter to us because we know they've come from a place of genuine concern.

When these people talk down on our plans because they're less prestigious or try to offer us that "much needed reality check" because they're too big, we find ourselves being drawn to quit.

This makes going against the norm and finding the courage to stand alone a very essential part of achieving our dream.

Embracing the Responsibility

Our dreams are not about us but everyone else who we've been called to serve in fulfilling that dream.

As we run away from the purpose for which we've been created, we deny the people whose needs we're supposed to meet of those benefits and ourselves of the fulfillment that comes from living for others.

In understanding that we're only mere custodians of our gifts and talents, we recognise the huge responsibility and privilege it is.

This imbibes diligence and humility in us knowing that we can actually lose them if we don't use them.

Also we we may experience lack because we're supposed to get paid for solving the problems of others in a balanced exchange of value.

The Benefits of Following Through

While the numbers in material and quantifiable values will reflect progress and growth, the biggest benefit of realizing our potential is who we become from it.

While the body may be in good shape from having the best care and comfort, it's the nourishment of the soul that is much more satisfying.

On every step of the way through the process, we meet situations that train us and build the strength of our character as we become more disciplined, self willed, self confident; and all round excellent.

As we put away the distractions of pleasure to focus on building the life we desire, we gradually come to terms with the reality that we're better off without them.

Summary:

Looking back at the growth of this community from just three (3) to above twelve thousand (12000) a year later, there's indeed substantial progress to show for following the master's lead.

The responsibility of serving you is an honour that has opened up many opportunities to work closely with other reputable personal and business brands across the world, many of whom are now a part of this special community.

Together, we've adapted this commitment to use our life in the service of others knowing that it's only in doing so that we can give our lives meaning and grace.

Cheers to 'so far', now it's time for more. Let's go!
