The Simple Path to True Fulfillment

If money truly satisfied, the rich wouldn't take their own life.

Introduction:

Welcome my friend!

It's a whole different mood today from what it was in our last discussion because I've recovered well now.

Thanks for both being there and for letting me draw strength from you. It's a gesture that hasn't gone unnoticed and I appreciate you big time.

I don't know if I had told you that a rich business man in my country had committed suicide?

Now that I have, does it make you think of other popular folks in both entertainment and sports, with a lot seemingly going on for them who still end it all by themselves.

Yet there's still some thoughts for the online sensations, dropping beautiful life experiences in pictures and backing them up with hot takes that always excite their many followers.

Then all of sudden they move on; to the amazement of a distraught crowd that have now realized that picture perfect is not "life perfect".

Through the different scenarios we've come to see that being fulfilled is truly not about how much made or accomplishments met.

Which then leaves us trying to figure out what it's all about and what indeed can satisfy the emptiness that continues to exist even when we have everything that we once thought would fill it.

Discussion:

The world view on success and fulfillment are often tied to numbers in money, belongings and other career or life achievements.

While they show evidence of efforts and mean that we're financially free, those are only physical needs that leave the rest of our emotional and spiritual ones, still unmet.

For some of us we try to get on the emotional aspect by finding love in another, or getting addicted to one or more of: drugs, gaming and porn.

All while pushing the spiritual need by the side either because we want to acknowledge God on our own terms rather than he's or simply because we've accepted that he doesn't exist and is a mere "mental construct of the weak".

Whatever it is, the society metrics of fulfillment is poorly abridged because it doesn't consider such important elements of it as;

▪︎ Peace of Mind

If the mind is constantly racing, troubled and worried from the anxiousness of "the what ifs and what could go wrongs", then what else is there?

Peace is a state of calm and clarity born out of the confidence that we'd be good in all circumstances because we have absolute trust in God to take care of us.

Here, we live without fear thinking ourselves greater than all of our limitations because we have connected with the divine strength.

Truly, insightful reasoning will reveal to us that most of our worries are only an acknowledgement of our human limits; to suffer from the fear of getting into a bad situation long before it arrives and many of which never do.

▪︎ Contentment

To be fulfilled is to be satisfied with who we are and what we have.

Interestingly, it has nothing to do with how much we have.

Contentment is the seed of self love that is sown once we accept that we're enough just the way we are and can go on to become whatever we want, if we set our mind on it and work diligently over time.

This is also the reason we'd be able to appreciate our progress in each stage; seeing ourselves as a constantly improving work in progress, rather than the hurtful pride of assuming we've arrived.

▪︎ Purpose

At the end of it all, we really want to know why we have to wake up every morning and carry out the activities we do throughout the day.

What is in it for us?

Who are we?

Why do we have to?

True fulfillment happens when we can see the meaning of our lives as it concerns service to others as we meet their needs with our gifts, talents and abilities even as they do so to ours.

In the absence of this, we can burn out or get bored because there's nothing else to aim for, having now met the needs the paycheck can satisfy.

To keep living is to identify and seek to play a noble role in the life of others.

Using Our Gift

Having now established that it takes more than just money to attain fulfillment, it also means that the process leading up to creating such a life should be built on principles that transcend more than just what we can earn from it.

In this we take into proper consideration how our craft, services or products affect others. How it harms them or improves their lives.

Each of us have a gift, a special ability in one area of life. Some of us have a special connection with others such that we're natural caregivers.

For others it's an aura that silently impacts others just from the way we move about our business diligently.

Most times our gifts show up in the little things we excel above others in and if we do pay attention we can make a lucrative business out of it while still maintaining a vision that is bigger than just mere profit and losses.

Setting Solid Foundations

The first impact of using our gift is that it makes us understand the significance of the word itself.

A gift from who to whom?

Our existence here is a gift from God to the people we're here to serve which makes us mere custodians.

This understanding sets the foundation for learning to gradually live a life rooted in all these qualities:

▪︎ Humility

To surrender our own desires to live for others and in accordance to God's will is a responsibility that only a humble mind can take on.

It's not easy to ignore all the alluring pleasures we're faced with daily to live a life of separation which is why the awareness that it's a gift to be used for others does help.

There's also the role it plays as an ego check that keeps us grounded because we know that we're not special and all of these can be gone in an instant if we don't properly use them.

▪︎ Generosity

The eagerness to share ourselves with others impactfully is a solid character strengthened as we embrace our gifts.

▪︎ Freedom

When the motivation for all we do is to gain the acceptance of others, we expose ourselves to the sufferings of their rejection.

In doing this, we allow ourselves to be subjected to their judgments, which are based on the ever changing metrics of trends and political correctness.

Similarly, the knowledge that we're enough in our own right, allows us to live authentically which attracts the love, acceptance and respect of our tribe even as we hold no room for hate towards those that antagonize us.

▪︎ Dedication

When we understand the significance of our role in life we live it out with commitment knowing that anytime we slack there are consequences that affect us and in extension those that depend on us.

This level of accountability allows us to push ourselves to the limits.

▪︎ Discipline

The best benefits of our commitment towards our self development is who we become from it.

It takes strong willpower to make the right choice when oftentimes it's the same as the most difficult choice.

▪︎ Excellence

A fulfilled life is an excellent life and this excellence is a mere outcome of intentional living.

In choosing to live in a way that puts those around us first we improve our own selves.

Summary:

Not until we understand what truly matters we'll always look to take the route with the shiny objects.

It's in the process that we develop the right attitude that makes our success sustainable which is why we must know the right path to take from the onset.

If money is all that matters to us then we can by all means continue in our lane but if we want it in addition to peace of mind and all round satisfaction, then we must take the simple path of giving ourselves up for others which in itself is a commitment larger than life.
