Everyone Counts

Drop a coin per day into the jar and some day it's going to be full.

Introduction:

Welcome my friend,

You see, to be honest with you, the initial plan for today's conversation was to point us back in the direction of an old theme, so that we could pick some lessons there that are still relevant to us.

However, as I sat down to put the lessons together, I kept feeling inspired in a different direction.

So much so that I couldn't ignore it.

Which is why we're no longer going over the old theme at this time but will now discuss, every one counts, a phrase to remind us that indeed everyone does count.

This is significant because it means that everything we'd be discussing today as simple as they are, has come to us timely.

Discussion:

Even if this conversation is kind of impromptu because of the switch, it'll still count as another good time spent here together.

Let's use that as our reminder that every one of our discussions here counts.

However, before we move on, it's important to explain the use of the terms “every one” and “everyone” in the context of this conversation for better understanding.

To do that by illustration;

Let’s use the tangible outcome of filling a safe by consistently dropping one coin into it over time (every one coin dropped) to highlight the similar impact an individual (everyone of us) can make in our respective communities.

This is the basis of today's conversation.

The Impact Of One

The effect of one isn't usually the same across the board.

For instance, if a thousand people contribute a dollar ($1) each for someone, this person will have a thousand dollars ($1000).

Here, for the contributors, what it costs them on an individual basis is almost negligible, but for the benefactor, it's a substantial amount to receive.

Such is the impact of one.

Now, how does this apply to us?

Truth is, as individuals we sometimes fall into the trap of thinking that “we're just one person”, that we're not good enough, or that we don't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Yet this is untrue.

One man can't change the world, but he can change himself, choosing to be and give his best to the world around him.

This makes a whole lot more difference than we realize.

When we do good to others, we send to them a message of love, hope and faith in humanity, so that they go on to share the same.

If one person can commit evil crimes that affect others in ways that they sometimes never recover from, how can we downplay the significance of the good we do?

The impact of one is such that when one light is shone, it illuminates the path around it.

This shows we're important and when we think and act like we aren't, we rob society of the little contributions we can intentionally make.

Starting From One

To get started from scratch is usually not the most exciting or easy thing to do.

In fact, when we see how far off we are, we conveniently convince ourselves that maybe if we waited longer, we could eventually start off big.

So we never start; this is self deceit.

Truth is, every one effort counts, everyday of consistency, of showing up.

Every one big thing started from making every one small move count and sticking to the process long enough for these efforts to compound.

Our most important step is the first one because once we take it, we put ourselves in a position where stepping backwards is now a waste of effort.

So we keep moving forward, one step at a time.

This is how we build something out of nothing.

Making Every One Count

Everytime we take the easy way out, nothing counts for us.

It's not supposed to be so.

Most of life's changing opportunities will come disguised as challenges.

They're the setbacks, the disappointments, the heart breaks.

Yet, they remould us.

Every adversity is an opportunity to grow because when we face something usual we're challenged to transform in order to survive.

However, if we become worse off, then we've wasted our suffering.

When we hit new strides as a result of the lessons from our mistakes, we make our misfortunes count for something.

However, this isn’t something we can do on our own, otherwise we repeat the same things that have led us here.

This is why we have to put it in God's hands.

When we give our lives back to our maker, we allow Him to use it to bring Glory to His name.

This is what makes our life count.

Summary:

Thanks for joining in today's discussion my friend.

Hopefully, there's been something in it that left a positive mark.

If yes, then we can say that we've made our time here count.
